Offseason Needs

Hey Panthers fans,

This past season was tough—historically tough. Giving up the most points in NFL history is a distinction no team wants, and it’s clear that our defense is in desperate need of reinforcements. The upcoming draft is a chance to reshape the roster and make us competitive again. Here are the areas we need to focus on:

1. Defensive Line (Edge Rushers & Interior Disruptors)

The lack of pressure up front has been a glaring issue. Without a consistent pass rush, opposing QBs have had all day to pick apart our secondary. We need:

  • Edge rushers: A true game-changer off the edge who can dominate 1-on-1 matchups.
  • Interior linemen: A disruptive force to plug up the middle and collapse pockets from within.

2. Linebackers (Sideline-to-Sideline Playmakers)

Since Luke Kuechly retired, we’ve struggled to find a consistent presence at linebacker. Opposing teams are exploiting the middle of the field and running right at us. We need:

  • Run-stuffers: A linebacker who can diagnose plays quickly and fill gaps.
  • Coverage backers: Someone athletic enough to cover TEs and RBs in space.

3. Secondary (CBs & Safeties)

Our DBs were left out to dry too often this season. While they weren’t helped by the lack of pass rush, the secondary still needs upgrades. We need:

  • Cornerbacks: A true lockdown corner who can neutralize WR1s.
  • Safeties: A hard-hitting safety to enforce the middle and a ballhawk to force turnovers.

4. Offensive Line Depth (Protecting the QB)

While our defense was the biggest issue, the O-line isn’t off the hook. Adding depth to protect our QB and open up the run game is still a priority.

5. Late-Round Gems (Special Teams & Developmental Players)

Never underestimate the impact of solid special teams players and developmental prospects who can grow into starters. A reliable kicker or a versatile backup could prove invaluable.

The Panthers are at a crossroads, but with a strong draft class and smart free agency moves, we can turn this ship around. Who do you all think we should target in the draft? Which positions are the must-fix areas? Let’s hear your thoughts!

Keep Pounding!

If we don’t get something done on the defensive line the rest of the defense will never improve, with how abysmal our run defense and pass rush was.
